Closing a pool for the winter? Follow this guide to get your pool prepared for an extended period of non-use.

BaQuacil Pools

  1. Adjust water balance according to a Pleasant Pools and Spas water test.
  2. 1 gallon of Bacquaci peroxide shock per 10,000 gallons of pool water.
  3. Circulate the pool water for 12 hours.
  4. Add Bacquaci sanitizer to increase sanitizer level to 50ppm.
  5. Add 2 oz. of Algae 50 per 10,000 gallons of pool water.
  6. Add 1 qt. of metal control per 10,000 gallons of pool water.
  7. Add Pool Perfect during the spring and fall per label instructions.

Chlorine Pools

  1. Adjust water balance according to a Pleasant Pools and Spas water test.
  2. Add 2 lbs. of chlorine shock per 10,000 gallons of pool water.
  3. Add 1 qt. of Algae 30 per 10,000 gallons of pool water.
  4. Add 1 qt. of metal control per 10,000 gallons of pool water.
  5. Add Pool Perfect during the spring and fall per label instructions.
  6. Adjust water level:
  7. Inground pool: Using an air compressor, blow out all the plumbing.
  8. Inground pool: Plug all plumbing lines with winter plugs and put gizzmos in skimmers.
  9. Inground pool: Pour two gallons of pool anti-freeze into plumbing.
  10. Disconnect and drain automatic pool cleaner.
  11. Disconnect and drain plumbing to slide.
  12. Remove all plugs from pumps and filter. Be sure all water is drained from equipment.
  13. Put valve in WINTER position or between two settings.
