Guide to buying a spa

Before purchasing a spa, it is good idea to gain as much information as you can. Below is a list of helpful questions to ask.

Things to ask your spa salesperson:

  • How is your spa different from your competitors?
  • How long have you been in business?
  • What kind of service can I expect from you after the sale?
  • Will you have replacement parts when I need them?
  • Do you have any customers I could speak with as references?
  • Is this spa fully foamed?
  • Are both a solid cover and a soft cover included in this price?
  • How is it heated?
  • Does it have a heat exchanger?
  • How much will it cost per month to run?
  • What chemicals do you recommend? (Beware: Nothing, not even an ozonator, can make a spa “chemical free.” Check with Pleasant Pools for the real scoop on “chemical free” spas.)
  • Can I run all the jets at full speed all at the same time?
  • Who manufactures your jets? (This is often different from the spa brand and good to know down the line in case you need replacements.)
  • How is the plumbing arranged beneath the tub?
  • What is the process to repair a leak in the plumbing?
  • Who makes the electronic accessories (i.e. stereos, TVs, etc.) included in this spa?
  • Is it a company I can trust?
  • What are the warranties on my spa shell, spa skirt, spa finish, equipment, and accessories?
  • Do you have financing?
